Scott HollidayWells County Sheriff

Sheriff Scott Holliday joined the Wells County Sheriffs’ Office in 2002 as a Reserve Officer.  He was hired on Full-time on January 6, 2003.  Sheriff Holliday was elected for his first term as Sheriff on January 1, 2019.

Sheriff Holliday has been been married to Tara Smith for 22 years.  They have 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

Gun Permits

Firearms Licensing is performed by the Indiana State Police.  You will need to visit your local Law Enforcement Office to complete the Application Process.

Please complete your Online Application before going to your Local Law Enforcement Office.

You will need to have your fingerprints processed at MorphoTrust USA site.  They have 60 locations statewide.  Please use the following link to find a location near you and schedule your fingerprinting session: MorphoTrust USA

After you have completed your fingerprints, you will need to go to the following Department if:

You will need to bring with you cash or money order for the Local Fee and the receipt given to you when your fingerprints were completed.

Duplicate handgun license request and/or notification of name or address change form.

Registered Sex Offenders who live and work in Wells County are required by law to pay a $50 Annual Registration Fee.

The Indiana VINE system is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender’s custody status changes.  The VINE toll-free number for the Indiana VINE system is 866-959-8463.  This service is provided to assist victims of crime, who have a right to know about their offender’s custody status.
